VOIP stands for “voice over internet protocol”. It is a type of phone number that can be created online without a traditional wireless provider through services like Google Voice.
People use VOIP numbers for a variety of reasons — including trying to hide their identity and conceal their past.
Garbo is able to detect if a number is a VOIP number. We will provide a notification to users if we detect a VOIP number has been provided and are unable to complete the search.
As always, you should use caution when interacting with someone - especially if they’ve provided a VOIP number.
